The Tool Bars are a set of icons along the top of the screen. Most icons are associated with a command on the main menu (the icon will appear to the left of the menu option when browsing the main menu). Some icons have a small down arrow in the lower-right corner that indicates the icon will drop down a list of items when clicked. Placing the mouse over an icon for a second will display a hint containing the name of the icon and the keyboard shortcut. Single-clicking on the dotted line to the left of each Tool Bar will slide the Tool Bar to the right or the left as far as possible.
The Search Tool Bar contains two special fields. The field next to the Find icon can be used to perform find operations without having to open the Find dialog (see Using Find). The field next to the Goto icon is used to jump to an address in a file without having to open the Goto dialog (see Using Goto for more information).
Right-click on the Tool Bar background to display a popup menu with a list of all Tool Bars. Click on a Tool Bar name in the list to either show or hide that Tool Bar. This list can also be accessed from the View Menu.
Tabs
One special Tool Bar contains a list of tabs. Each tab contains the file name of an open file and clicking on a tab allows easy switching between files. A tab can be closed quickly by clicking the middle button on the tab (note that some mice have a scroll wheel and a middle-click can be performed by pressing down on the scroll wheel). A popup menu can be accessed by right-clicking on the tab. From the popup menu, click the 'Close' menu option to close the currently selected file, or the 'Close All Except This' option to close all files except the file that is currently selected. See the File Menu for an explanation of other options on the popup menu.
